Research

  • My research topic (and thesis topic) is wearable antennas and the human influence on antennas. If you put an antenna close to a human, the input impedance might change, radiation pattern is reshaped, and radiation efficiency drops.

The traditional way to solve the problems introduced by the user is to employ a ground plane shielding the antenna from the user. This is not always necessary, and it is my intention to find out other ways to bring peace and harmony in the cohabiting of the antenna and the human.

My past research includes the human effect on FM dipole antennas (100 MHz) and on GPS antennas (1575 MHz), and the effect of bending GPS antennas. I have also designed antennas on a plaster (band-aid) substrate. I am convinced that the human body can be used as an antenna or at least as a part of it.

I get my salary mainly from GETA, the Graduate School in Electronics, Telecommunications and Automation.
